  • Overview

    California Community News, a Los Angeles Times company, is currently seeking an experienced Mechanic/Electrician Technician for their Pressroom facility in Irwindale.

     

    The Mechanic/Electrician provides technical support to team maintenance crew and production employees. 

    Responsibilities

    • Troubleshooting and repair of electrical and mechanical problems on the Goss Urbanite, Muller Martini, Gammerler stacker units, Kodak CTP & Processor and all equipment in the pressroom area. 
    • Proactively performance of all preventive and planned maintenance in a high quality safe and efficient manner. 
    • Daily communication of maintenance tasks including communication with production personnel on matters impacting maintenance.   

    Qualifications

    This role typically requires 3 to 5 years of maintenance experience in a production environment.

     

    • Completion of an industrial electrical apprenticeship required

    • Completion of Industrial electrical or electronics trade school required

    • 7-10 years of industrial electrical work experience

    • Must have basic electrical/technical skills and must be skilled in the use of basic mechanic tools.
    • Proficient knowledge of PLC, AC/DC motor drives, Servo motors and the ability to read schematics and blueprints required. 
    • Able to work weekends, holidays and overtime when applicable for production. 
    • Excellent communications skills, ability to troubleshoot production problems, follow directions thoroughly and work independently or part of a team.
    • Requires bending, twisting, knelling, walking and standing for long periods and the ability to lift 70 pounds.
    • General understanding of the Goss Urbanite presses preferred.
